The Trip Cont'd

Ok, so anyway, I go to work. Work a normal day, finishing up as much as I can and passing the rest on to co-workers. After work, I drive straight to the airport. I call the parents and let them know I'm there and shutting off my phone to pack it up. Getting through security and on the plane is uneventful. I have myself a nice time reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn before boarding and I finish it on the plane to L.A. I wanted to watch movies, but they were pay-per-view. >:

When I got to L.A. GAH! Long walk from the domestic building to international. At least a mile. It was a good thing my carry-on has rollers and my backpack was light. :)

I get to the counter there. LONG line. I spent 1 hour jsut waiting to get my China Air tickets. When i get there, the girl looks at me like "W T F newb!? You can't tkae that huge bag as carry-on." And then asks me, "Are you taking that as carry-on?" I say yeah. She tells me to put it on the scale and looks at the weight. She says "How can you take that as carry-on?" Umm... I'll just walk onto the plane with it and put it in the overhead like I did on the Delta flight. She won't take my explaination that since I'm coming from Delta, my bag is subject to different weight rules, even when I provide the printed web page stating so. >: Good thing I had my distrust of airlines and second-guessed it. I pull a few important travel papers out of the carry-on to put in my backpack, let her sticker the carry-on as checked and went to wait in the security line to have my checked bag screened. Took 15 mins to wait through line to have a security guy put my bag in a line of bags and tell me to go away. I could very easily have added the bag to the line and walked off on my own =/

So I sit, well after midnight, but not allowed to sleep. I want to get on Msia time ASAP. I read Beowulf while waiting for the flight to board. Talk about hard reading... very strange word order, run on sentences and some words I've never seen before. The book was ok, but the guys at http://www.moremud.com/ make it awesome. :D So I sit for a 12 hours flight watching movies. FREE movies :D China Air had the same application as Delta did for watching movies, playing games, etc, but they didn't charge you to use it. I know I watched Indiana Jones and the crystals skulls one and two others.

Work calls... more later.
